Our goal is to empower faculty to create the graphics, presentations, and other tools to enhance learning materials for use in the classroom and on the World Wide Web.
As a member of the New Media Centers consortium, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization helping institutions of higher education enhance teaching and learning through the use of new media, we share this goal with other Universities and corporations both nationally and internationally.

With the explosion in technology, it is necessary to keep faculty current with software and hardware advances. Training is a large part of the FMC's function. We've coached, tutored and trained faculty on a variety of software and topics including Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and HTML. The result of this training becomes evident in the quality of the materials being presented in multimedia classrooms, at meetings with colleagues, at symposiums and as speaker support for university administration.

In support of university classes, the FMC provides faculty with a place to test the latest software and to be updated on World Wide Web activities. This enables faculty to bypass ineffective methodology by providing the best working models for modern teaching methods. Many of these examples come from international sources via connections made on the internet.

The FMC serves as a hub for interdisciplinary contact between UCF faculty allowing them to share successes and advance learning at the University of Central Florida.
